Therapy sessions with Master Level Interns or a Provisionally Licensed Therapist are a fraction of the cost of working with a fully licensed clinician at our practice. But, you get the same high-quality mental health care. Sliding scale fees that can be negotiated to fit your budget. We also have the option to bill your insurance directly as we are in-network with Aetna, United Healthcare, and Cigna which each therapist in our practice can bill for.
What is a Masters Level Intern?
A Master's Level Intern is a clinician in the final stage of their education and is accruing the required hours to graduate with their Master's Degree. They have participated in a semester of practicum, where they have provided counseling in their university's community counseling center. The interns in the practice are all directly supervised and trained by Stephanie Konter-O’Hara, LPC. This ensures they are prepared to provide the best care for each client they work with.
What is a Provisionally Licensed Therapist?
A Provisionally Licensed Therapist is a clinician in the final stage of becoming a licensed clinician. They have graduated with their Master’s degree and working towards being licensed. Each provisionally licensed therapist in our practice is directly supervised and trained by a licensed supervisor. This helps ensure the highest quality of care is given to each client they work with.
Why should I Consider affordable therapy with an intern/provisionally licensed therapist?
First, you will receive wonderful care and counseling at a more affordable cost. The sliding scale for a Master's Level Intern/Provisionally Licensed Therapist is income-based and runs between $80-115/session. Another reason to work with an intern is they may have more availability to provide afternoon/evening sessions. Lastly, when you work with these clinicians you get the experience of not just one therapist but two since these therapists are supervised by another fully licensed therapist.
What should I expect if I choose to receive affordable therapy at WellMinded Counseling?
This is a really great question.
If you choose low-cost therapy, you should expect that your therapist will really listen to you as your share the concerns that are bringing you into counseling. Then, they will work collaboratively with you to reach your goals. In addition to expecting a positive & collaborative counseling experience, your therapist will occasionally videotape or audiotape your sessions to use in meetings with their supervisor. These videotapes provide direct observation of the counseling process to allow the supervising clinician to best give direction to the intern. These videotapes are kept private and information is deleted within 30 days.
Teaching and Education
WellMinded supervisors pride themselves in providing excellent supervision and training to the staff of therapists. Monthly team meetings, weekly trainings, weekly supervision and a robust training program during on boarding and on-going allows the therapist at WellMinded Counseling to have the skill set, and training to provide effective and compassion treatment to the clients that attend treatment at WellMinded Counseling. Their training focuses on learning to be trauma informed, trauma treatment trained (EMDR, Mindfulness Based Treatments, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Emotion Focused Therapy), as well as compassionate and skilled at providing treatments with those struggling with Anxiety, Depression and going through Life Transitions.
